Day 18. ‘Perspective’

There is nothing like unwanted news to bring our own lives into perspective. In recent times I have become much better at allowing things that I find irksome to pass on by. It’s rarely worth your peace of mind to do otherwise. Where I, you, all of us sit in the grand scheme of things is spectacularly pointed out in Carl Sagan’s “The Pale Blue Dot.”
“…there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.” — Carl Sagan, speech at Cornell University, October 13, 1994.
I can hear some audible sighs of “it’s the philosophical day.” Yeahhhhhhh a tad perhaps, but it is that kinda day. There is a calamity upon my roof as we speak making all other work impossible…..fodder for another day 🙂

Until tomorrow,
